I have been a mascara lover since I was 17 years old. A friend of mine had told me back then, that no woman should leave the house without some mascara on. Unlike my children, I have short lashes with no major volume. Mascara, for me, has to go double duty.
For years I have been using Dior Diorshow but at about 6 months ago my excitement for it have been going away. My search for a new mascara was on and I've tried: Benefit Badgal, Le Volume de Chanel, Stila Major Lash, Clinique High Impact. They flake, they give spider lashes, they are too liquid, sometimes too dry. Lancome was the one I had not tried, there I went on Google to check on reviews.
If you are like me, that checks out Makeupalley.com reviews on products, you have heard of drugstore dupes. Going further into researching, I found out that Loreal owns most brands and they test their high end formulas on drugstores first. If it hit major with people, it will hit even bigger at department store for a higher price point.
The dupe for Lancome Hypnose mascara is Loreal's False Lashes Faux Cils. For $8, it is worth trying on. ( Those who know me, know that I am a Rite Aid Boutique loyal customer). I had high hopes but at least I tried the dupe. No major lashes going on here.
My next one was Loreal Extra Volume Collagen and I was very, very happy with the results. It gave me length and volume, it did not flake. That lasted three months, when the product ended and I wanted a new discovery.
Maybelline Falsies Big Eyes ad was on TV and I figured, why not? Maybe I should not have figured anything. I hated everything about it. From the bristles to the formula.
Back to the boutique, I purchased my Extra Volume Collagen and saw the new Voluminous False Fiber Lashes. Got the False Lashes one too and I have been using both together …. Until ….
The MEGA ULTRA HIT LOREAL MISS MANGA is coming to the US. A hit in Europe and Japan, this one delivers it all. It comes in Black, black brown, brown, pink and purple. So far, you can only find it at Walgreens online and Drugstore.com.
Today I have received my Miss Manga. It did not disappointed me at all !!! First, I curled my lashes with my Laura Mercier curler (sometimes expensive is the way to go).
With one stroke of Miss Manga you already see the difference. The lashes get a boost of volume and length. I did three strokes and my lashes went through the roof. The wand is bendable, for those who have some difficulty with angles when applying mascara.
I never got this quality with any Dior or Benefit. For $6.99 it is worth the try !!! I think I'll keep it !!!

My best hair find
By Marcia Schwarz Perel
People that know me are aware that I love to change my hair. May it be color or style, I am obsessed about finding the next best thing.
Lately, I have been coloring my hair by myself and getting tons of compliments about it. I believe that a great hair professional will share his or hers knowledge in order to keep a customer happy. My hairdresser from Curitiba, Ivaldo Lima, never hesitated to tell me what best hair color would be good for me or what brand. Since traveling from NY to Curitiba just to color my hair is an impossible task, I have decided to take Ivaldo's advice and do it on my own. I was basically unable to find a professional that would deliver satisfying results and avoid frying my hair every time it would get colored. Coloring at home requires products that will help your hair to live up to the expectation of a professional result.
Thanks to Ivaldo's advice, I started using Kerastase products. I swore by them. Yes they are pricey, but if great products would all be cheap, EVERYBODY would have great hair. After a while, Kerastase discontinued my beloved Cement line and I was not seeing some many benefits anymore.
After spending an afternoon sick in bed reading beauty blogs, I came across Living Proof.
I started using the Living Proof no frizz spray, a sample I got from my local Sephora store. Cheaper than a Kerastase leave in, delivering results that shocked me, I decided to purchase the product, along with the PHD ( Perfect Hair Day) leave in cream.
After washing my hair, with it still damp, I apply both products. The drying time is reduced by 80%, my hair is soft, hydrated and frizz free. Living Proof products are silicone free and animal cruelty free. Check out their web site for cool promotions. you will not regret it.
